We hope you enjoy visiting and sharing our joy and excitement.  She is welcomed into our large and wonderful family; loved very much by her mommy, daddy, and all of her siblings, Daniel, Josh, Ashley S., Ashley H., Bradley, Cheyanna. Kaitlyn, Nate, Kara, and her angel brother, Jordan.

Our baby so much wanted!!   After losing her brother, Jordan, last year,( here is his website: http://jordan-hefel.memory-of.com/ ) we knew we would want a baby right away.  Well if you could only seen my happiness when I seen the 2nd line barely show up on the pregnancy test! I called the doctor right away and made an appt. I wanted to make sure everything was off to a good start. I got my 1st picture of her on April 20th, 9 wks and 2 days, It was the best early ultrasound I have ever had! I could actually see her moving around and I could see the buds of all 4 limbs.  On May11th, at 12 wks and 6 days, I had a level 2 ultrasound done. This one was looking for signs of trisomy 21, 18 or 13. It looked good. At the time, her heartrate was in the 170's.  I just knew she was a girl!  At around 13-14 weeks I thought I felt her moving..like little gas bubbles.. except that I felt them at about the same time every day. I had morning(or day) sickness. I couldnt tolerate many smells, pop was definately a no-no, it made sick evertime I tried to drink it. I craved meat quite badly those first early months. I also developed a taste for unsweetened iced tea. On June 22nd, at 18 wks and 5 daysI got my third ultrsound, a level 2 ultrasound. Evrything looked great once again. Her heartrate was in the 160's. Once again I was sure I was having a girl. I had even chosen a name..Alexis Keilana Jordyn Hefel. Summer of 2006 was memorable. We went camping a few times, several Iowa Cubs games, the Iowa State Fair, and a very smooth pregnancy.  On August 24th, at 27 wks and 5 days, I had another level 2 ultrasound done. Once again a very good ultrasound. She opened her eyes, yawned, held her leg, just showed off for us. I was very happy that things looked good. But deep down inside I was still very scared that somthing would go wrong. At 29 weeks, my first scare of early labor...Iwas having contractions and when I went in and got checked i was told that I? was dilated to 1 cm. I was also told that I had nothing to worry about. My cervix was still thick and it was normal for someone like me to be dilated to 1 that early because I have had so many kids. that wasnt the last time I ran in afraid. I even thought she had stopped moving only to feel movement as soon as I got to the hopsital.  At 34 weeks, I was checked at a reg.doc ppt and was told that I was dilated to 4.  I thought for sure that I was not going to make it to Nov.  Halloween came and went and I was still pregnant. The doctor said that many women go around dilated to 4 for weeks. We scheduled one last ultrasound..to check the size of the baby. So on Oct. 31, We had the last Ultrasound done. estimated weight was between 6lb, 2 0z and 7 lb 2 oz. Josh was also there and he found out the sex of the baby. we didnt know, so the picture of her parts was put into an envelope and we gave it to a friend to hold.  Josh actually kept it a secrect. That last ultrasound made me wonder if in fact I was having a boy. So I came up with 2 names, if a girl, Alexis Leia(child from Heaven) Jordyn; if a boy, Max Kimokea(honoring God) Jordan. At my next appt, the doctor and I agreed to induce on the 14th, fearing that going much later the baby would be too big and I would need a c-section. The 14th came and I was so excited that I was actually giong to have a live, kicking screaming baby. We got to the hospital at 8:00 in the morning, broke my water at 9:00, and nothing happened. Jennifer, my best friend, and my oldest son, Josh walked with me. finally at noon, I decided to have them go ahead and use the pitocin.  I knew that once it started, I would go very fast. The contractions finally kicked in at about 1:45. Boy did they kick in! 20 minutes later I was at 7 cm. Then worse pain than the contractions hit me. I was having kidney spasms as a result of kidney stones. It was the worst labor I experienced.  Because I was going so fast there was nothing they could give me for pain.  At around 3:30, I started pushing and our little
"Princess Baby" (as Kara named her in the hospital) arrived at 4:21 p.m. Daddy, and siblings Josh, both Ashleys, Bradley, Cheyanna, and Kaitlyn were there to greet their sister. there was a pool on weight of Lexi and Ashley H. won with a guess of 7 lb 13 oz. Lexi weighed 7 lb 14 oz and was 20 inches.

Please, when you stop by, leave a greeting or sign the guestook, Thank you.
